DESCRIPTION: Audemars Piguet, Switzerland, a man's gold wrist watch, 13 ligne cal. VZSS, 17 jewels, manual winding, adjusted to 6 positions, temperature and isochronism, cotes de Geneve decorated nickel plate movement with lever escapement, in an 18 karat yellow gold case, the back with engraved monogram, arabic numeral and dart marker metal dial with gold stick hands, serial #52991, 34mm, 40.2g TW, with brown leather strap and 18 karat yellow gold Patek Philippe buckle, c1950, case, dial and movement signed.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dings; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Minor scratches on inner surface of case; Plastic crystal; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Slight dome at 12:00 from dial foot, lacquer with crazing; A few minor losses to lacquer; Minor spotting. HANDS: Very good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Plates a bit hazy; A few screw heads with minor marring; Regulator with a few tiny specks of oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) . The ebauche for this caliber was developed by Valjoux for use in chronographs, and was used with the complication removed for use in precision timepieces. Patek Philippe used this caliber in some of their mid 20th century chronographs, and also used the stripped down timepiece for observatory competitions. Both Patek and Audemars performed a further modification to the Valjoux ebauche- they made a special main or bottom plate which allowed for the use of solid bankings, a steel pallet bridge, and modification of the balance cock to accomodate a different style of balance stud.

CML.90, 17 jewels, manual winding, grained and spotted nickel plate movement with lever escapement and monometallic balance in a stainless steel case, arabic numeral metal dial with 60 minute and 12 hour registers, with constant seconds at 9:00, luminous blued steel baton hands, blued chronograph hand and gilt, serpentine register indicators, 32mm, c1950.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dings and scratches; Case back with fine scratches and a few marks and scratches from case wrench; Plastic crystal; One chronograph pusher replaced. DIAL: Minor scratches and spotting, otherwise very good. HANDS: Minor oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scattered fine scratches on plate; Plates with minor discoloration; Chronograph bridge with minor loss to plating; A few screw heads with minor marring. CONDITION: CASE: Dirty; Minor dings and scratches; Back with marks and scratches from case wrench; Plastic crystal with scratches; Underside of chronograph pusher tubes with losses to plating and verdigris. DIAL: A few fine scratches above 5:00 and minor blistering at 10:00, otherwise very good. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches on plate; A few screws with minor specks of oxide; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Balance spring missing; Good staff; escapement functions when lever is moved manually.
