DESCRIPTION: Illinois Watch Co., Springfield, Illinois, for Sheff Bros., Wheeling, W.Va., a gold hunting cased pocket watch, 16 size, 15 jewels, stem wind and lever set, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance in a 14 karat, yellow gold, engine turned and engraved hunting case, the inside of the front with engraved initials, arabic numeral, double sunk white enamel dial with blued steel Breguet style hands, serial #1320403, 97.5g TW, c1895.
CONDITION: CASE: Shallow dents and dings; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Cuvette with shallow dents and crease; Engine turning and engraving with minor wear; Rear cover with minor gap at band when closed; Front cover lift spring weak; Plastic crystal with fine scratches; Crown shell worn through; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel; A few tiny flakes at edge. HANDS: Oxidation, minute. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scratches on plate; Minor spotting; A few fine scratches on winding wheel; Winding wheel with a few specks of oxide; Regulator assembly with specks of oxide; Loss to blacking in engraving; Balance cock screw with pitting; Balance upper endstone setting marred. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) .
