DESCRIPTION: Charles Kirk, Bristol, Conn., 30 hour, time and strike regulated by a pendulum iron back plate and brass movement shelf clock.
CONDITION: Mahogany veneered case has some loss on the base. Replaced dial. Original tablet. Hands are period and appear to be original with some loss to the hour hand tip. These cases were originally designed to house a 30 hour wood movement that had a spring capsule attached at the winding arbors to allow the movement to be spring driven. When this was not sucessful, a thick wood filler piece was added and the cases converted to house a brass movement.This clock is from the Jim Waldron collection.
