DESCRIPTION:
Austria, a large, mid 19th century painting clock, deep, cavetto molded frame with leaf and dart molded liner, the corners with applied Grecian ornament, oil on canvas painting with rural theme, featuring a hilly landscape with meandering river, thatched roof cottages and farm animals, the church tower with clock rising above the surroundings, and with figures conversing, feeding chickens, and engaged in their various daily activities, roman numeral white enamel dial signed "Wurtel Paris", two train movement with square plates and large barrels, and auxiliary "church bell" movement at left, activated once every twelve hours, and striking on two gongs

frame with minor losses to gesso, corners with minor separation, and now with gold paint, painting with cracquelure and in an older, slightly discolored varnish, canvas sagging, surface with minor abrasions, clock dial slightly misaligned with hole in canvas, minute hand replaced, hands with minor oxide, movement dirty, ticks and strikes, church bell movement working,dovetailed corners of case separating
