DESCRIPTION: France, Paris, mini 8 days,bell striking clock with silk thread suspension and Gothic gilt bronze cathedral facade case under glass dome, c1850
CONDITION: he Gothic facade is finely detailed with original frosty yellow gilding. Bell and bell retaining nut have been replaced, and someone has fashioned a very nice pendulum with threaded rod and adjustable bob [silk is also adjustable with take-up knob]. Good Paris movement is signed simply "ACD". Turned ball feet are attached with fine screws that will need adjusting, as the clock does not set level. Clock gilding is good because it has spent most of its life under this dome. Ht of clock = 9 1/2" ht with black wooden base and dome = 13 1/2"

DESCRIPTION: French influence movement, signed Bollengier, a la Haye (the Hague), and with a fine grid compensating pendulum, c1870, now installed in an earlier c1840 veneered walnut over oak case, bearing barley twist columns to the side. A mixed lot.
CONDITION: both the dial and movement are good quality and are signed as in the headline, the movement signature with unusually deep script. Small chip in dial near 6. This movement was probably from an Empire style portico case, as the bezel has substantial cast in extensions for attaching it to something above it, plus the well made pendulum is meant to be seen. Because the arc of the pendulum is so great, the sides of the case have been cut out to allow for the pendulum swing. Ht of case 14.2

CONDITION: this as found clock is not for the faint at heart, but can come to life. It has no pendulum or weight. [weight cord goes up over a roller in the case top and down the right side, with a square bottom iron weight about 6 inches long] The rosewood veneered case has substantial veneer losses to the lower door and upper bezel. The original dial is very dirty, and with flakes, but the Dial House could clean and restore without repainting. Left quarter gilt molding is lacking from lower door. Bottom left OG return is missing as are both corbel shaped side pieces. The black & gilt tablet is missing. The original keystone failed and there is an envelope with some parts that could be modified to fit. For a similar clock in good condition, see Tran Duy Ly's "Seth Thomas Clock & Movements" Vol. 1, p. 273 (although the c1880 date shown there is too late as the Regulator No. 3 replaced this model in 1879). An nice clock, but challenging project for the patient restorer. Ht 44"
