CONDITION: top fret with replacements, minor dirt and losses to finish, case front with split at left, bezel painted gold and hinge loose, dial with discoloration, case originally had a different movement, clock ticks and strikes, music box added when movement was changed, plays at the hour and half hour. Often misunderstood, these were hobbiest's clocks - individuals bought the plans and made the cases, then bought movements from the merchant who sold them the case plans, jig saws for making it, etc. We have no evidence that they were ever mass produced to specfic designs.
