CONDITION: Beautifully restored case with intact feet and scrolls, and nicely made wood pulley covers. Lower reverse-painted table is a good recent repaint. Very good complete paper label (minor stains) and painted wood dial with gilt gesso trim. Two light hollow brass finials, one newer solid one to match. Movement complete, will tick and strike but needs cleaning of gummy bearings that have been brass-bushed. Ht.32" to finial top.

CONDITION: see page 197 in Kenneth Roberts, "Eli Terry and the Connecticut Shelf Clock" first edition and page 140 in Tran Du Ly's "American Clocks" volume three for reference to this specific clock. The upright partition boards supporting the movement and the finials are replacements. The base has been reveneered. The whale's tail crest has two glue repairs. The lower glass has several cracks, Although nothing has been changed for over 50 or 60 years the clock was probably restored from period components prior to publication in Roberts' book. This clock was sold by Horton's Antique Clocks in 2002 for $7250. Ht 26 1/2"

CONDITION: the 4 ads on the bottom roller have been attractively replaced. The Telechron clock movement seems to run OK, and with center seconds hand. The ad roller rotates every approx every 12 seconds to reveal the next ad and then pauses. Most of the silvering has rubbed off the embossed brass dial. CONDITION: Rosewood and mahogany veneered case in an original finish with some minor veneer loss at a couple of the corners of the door. Original decal glass with some loss is cracked. Wood molding base is probably a later addition as one does not usually see this model with a base. Original dial has some loss at the winding arbor and the mounting pins. Hands are original. Maine label is an over-paste; note also steel straps reinforcing rear of case. Mov't is complete and sound. Ht. 12"
