DESCRIPTION: E. Ingraham & Co., Bristol, Conn., "Domino" mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven brass movement in a black enameled wood case, papered dial, black steel hands
CONDITION: black enameled case in original finish has some wear on the corners and general loss to the gilding in the incised decoration. Remains of original label on the back. The white dial is an old Swigert replacement as the dials on this model usually had a black dial with gilt lettering and brass hands. Hands are mismatched. Proper pendulum. Finials (4) are absent. A very nice looking case style. With some work, this will be a nice clock.

CONDITION: the case is in very good condition with original finish nicely waxed. Original top dial has aged to tan, and as is typical, the Lewis calendar dial is bright white and likely a replacement. Lewis calendar is lacking its rear dust cover. Very nice inner paper label. A nice example of this model.

CONDITION: Early model "Nyanza" with case nicely rubbed down. Original lower table reads "UNION PETROLEUM COMPANY / PHILADELPHIA PA.". Early models had mirrored throat glass, but this one may have newer mirror. Finial is replaced. Dial has been painted (earlier ones had paper) Nearly complete paper label on the back. The movement is signed.

Co., Forestville, Conn., "Briggs Rotary" novelty timepiece with a 30 hour, spring driven brass movement with conical pendulum, 2 inch papered dial with roman numerals, black steel spade hands, all on a black painted wood base with cast metal paw feet and under a small glass dome. These were manufactured under John C. Brigg's 1855 & 1856 patents first by the George W. Brown & Co. (toy manufacturer) in the 1860s and in the 1870s by E.N. Welch Mfg. Co., Forestville, Conn.
CONDITION: some flaking of the black paint on the base. Paper dial looks original with some light spotting. The hands are original. The nice glass dome. Proper spherical pendulum with knurled ring. The pendulum will need to be restrung.

DESCRIPTION: F. Kroeber Clock Co., New York, NY, "Indian Hunter V.P." mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven brass movement in a metal front case depicting a hunter with a bow and arrow standing next to his alert canine companion, papered metal dial, and black steel Maltese style hands.
CONDITION: the finish has worn off from most of the case. The Kroeber catalog listed this clock as " bronze" but meant a bronze-colored finish over the cast spelter. Impressions inside the cast spelder door identify this as a Nicholas Muller No. 181 case. Original paper dial is soiled with wear and abrasions but is still quite legible. Original hands and nice patented Kroeber pendulum. This statue is reported to have been copied from the original by John Quincy Adams Ward, which was completed in 1886 and now stands in Central Park, New York. A well-executed statuette makes this a handsome clock.

The bottom of these usually has rippled molding, but it is not present on this clock. The dial is a modern replacement that looks convincingly old. Original decalcomania tablet with minor loss. Both period hands have been repaired. The tips on both finials have been repaired. Movement is signed. Dark label inside. Will need to have a suspension spring / leader fitted.

CONDITION: The black slate case is very good with the smallest of chips along a few of the edges. No large losses or breaks. The red and white marble pieces are very nice. The gold filling the incised patterns has been nicely restored. Enamel dial is very good, as is the bezel and beveled glass. Hour and minute hands are missing. Pallet jewels are carnelian. Strikes on a substantial gong. This clock is heavy and fragile if shipping is a consideration.

The patination has slight wear on the brass sphinxes. The unsigned round movement has been remounted to the movement sometime in the past. The movement is very clean, so serviced recently. A very attractive, high quality set.

CONDITION: the case is in very good condition with what looks to be original gilding. There is no rear cover for the movement as this clock once lived under a glass dome. Hour hand may be a replacement. Unsigned diminutive French movement is clean and has new thread. The Greek goddess Athena was associated with wisdom, strategic warfare, the arts, and trade. Minerva was the equivalent Roman goddess.

CONDITION: spelter figure dirty with much of its original patination gone, applied metal ornaments poorly repainted in gold, dial good, hands with oxidation, marble base good, movement ticks and strikes, movement with a poorly struck Marti award stamp from 1900. Esmeralda is a character from Victor Hugo's novel "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame". She was known for her dancing and is often depicted with a tambourine. She was rarely seen without her goat named Djali.

DESCRIPTION: Gebrüder Junghans, Schramberg, Germany, "Elegant" swinging mystery clock, 8 day, time only, spring driven movement contained in a compound pendulum held aloft by a female figure in flowing dress, arabic numeral white enamel dial, and blued steel hands.
CONDITION: patination on cast spelter figure is quite good with a few small scratches near the base. There are some small scratches on the ebonized wood base. The swing arm has been polished so the gilding is gone, revealing bright brass and copper surfaces. Unsigned enamel dial is very good. The unsigned movement has centrally located winding and setting knobs and a going barrel. This model is often called "Diana" but is shown as "Elegant" in period Junghans catalogs.

DESCRIPTION: Gebrüder Junghans, Schramberg, Germany, dolphin swinging mystery clock, 8 day, time only spring driven brass movement with compound pendulum, gilt cast case, arabic numeral white enamel dial, and blued steel hands, all held aloft by the tail of a gilt cast spelter dolphin statuette on a turned ebonized wood stand.
CONDITION: The old cast spelter figure is in good condition. Gold paint has been applied over the original gilding, filling the deep sections of relief. The threaded end has been soldered onto the jewel arm, which is not of the common Junghans type. There is a repaired split in the wood base. The movement is unsigned but has the other hallmarks of a genuine Junghans including the centered setting knob and enclosed mainspring barrel. No modern hardware or adhesives were found within the movement or case. The crystal is absent. We do not see this model in catalogs or previous sales and the Junghans swing arm clock appears a bit big for the scale of the statuette. That said, there is another known swinging clock attributed to Junghans that has a dolphin figure very similar to this one.

CONDITION: Rosewood veneered case in an old finish has minor damage at the right side back edge of the onion top. The painted dial signed: "E.C. Brewster" has scattered paint loss and maybe from a different clock as the movement is stamped "Forestville Mfg. Co.". Three of the four finials have minor tip damage. Replaced tablet. Most of the label is gone.

CONDITION: molded portion of brass base with dark patina, top of base with fine scratches, spots and specks on pendulum surface, suspension intact, suspension guard is present, dial very good, rear movement corresponds to Plate 1504A in Terwilliger's reference book, serial number 68291.

CONDITION: ceramic case in excellent condition, case leaning forward a bit, crest piece held on with silicone, dial very good, hand good, nice cast sun pendulum with oxidation on the rod, movement stamped with Japy's horseshoe trademark, movement ticking.

DESCRIPTION: Joseph Ives, Brooklyn, New York, empty case to an early "Brooklyn" model clock utilizing a wagon spring.
CONDITION: Mahogany veneered case nice condition in an old finish. This case was designed to use the early six wheel train movement. A picture of an example of this clock can be found in: "The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology by Kenneth Roberts", 2nd edition, page 75. Replaced tablet. Original wagon springs still inside the case as well as a clean label. If you have or can find a proper movement and dial, you will have a VERY rare clock.

Ripple front round gothic or beehive case. Ripple clocks were almost entirely made by the Forestville Mfg Co., J.C. Brown and E.N. Welch Mfg. Co.
CONDITION: Refinished mahogany case in nice condition. Repainted original dial. Movement is the type made by Forestville. Tablet is a modern replacement with a much later tablet taped to the back of the case. Period hands.

DESCRIPTION: Manufacture des Ateliers Brillié Frerès, Paris, France, for J. Auricoste, Paris, "Electrique Brillié" wall clock, battery powered movement with center seconds, the heavy ball pendulum swinging through the center of the stationary electromagnet, glazed case mounted to a white marble backboard, roman / arabic white enamel dial with blackened steel Breguet hands.
CONDITION: The porcelain dial is perfect and with original signatures of Brillié and the retailer which reads, "J. Auricoste / Horologer de la Marine de l'Etat". Only the beveled front glass remains. Grooves in the brass moldings will accept replacement beveled glass panels. The hands advance when the pendulum moved manually. The original wet battery jar is now dry but still intact with Brillié label. A plate on the top of the movement is stamped "BFF 8665"
