DESCRIPTION:
George Prior, London, a triple cased verge fusee pocket watch made for the Turkish market for which Prior was a major supplier of pocket watches. Key wind and set, gilt full plate movement with pierced and engraved balance cock in a tortoise shell covered outer case with engraving and pique pin ornament, and containing sterling silver pair cases, the back of the intermediate case with engraved floral wreath encircling a musical trophy, the inner cases with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1783, turkish numeral, outer black five minute marker white enamel dial, blued steel beetle and poker hands, serial #14626, 74mm.

CASE: Tortoise shell with splits and minor losses; Some pique pins missing; Intermediate case with minor wear and scratches; Intermediate case catch replaced; Inner case with minor dents, dings and scratches; Pendant with case wear; Bow missing; Crystal with edge chips at 6:00; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel; Small edge chips, 12:00; Scratches. HANDS: Oxidation. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scratches on plate; Balance cock with very poor quality repair; Screws with losses to bluing; Steel components with minor oxide and rust; Very dirty. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Cannot be wound, fusee frozen; Ticks with pressure on train; Setting ok.
