AUCTION : 0519

Lot#: 153

DESCRIPTION: David Perret, Neuchatel, a hanging electric Vienna regulator style timepiece with one minute remontoire, the walnut case with deeply incurved bottom bracket and turned drop, the top with cavetto molded cornice, and glazed door with arched aperture and flanking, slender turned columns with bold capitals and bases, roman numeral white enamel dial signed "Horloge Electrique David Perret", fancy blued steel hands, brass movement with three wheel train, dead beat escapement with adjustable, Vulliamy style pallets, and ratchet tooth driving wheel, the power supplied by a lever connected to a coil spring, reset once per minute by an electromagnet, and fancy gilt pendulum
CONDITION: Apparently Perret sourced his cases and unfinished movements from Germany, as this is a typical walnut veneered case with hinged front door, slide mount for movement, and German dial, hands & beat scale. The case lacks top trim and two bottom side finials. What is there retains original finish, and a couple of minor chips in veneer. The top section of the case is designed with recesses to accept dry cell batteries. As with all of Perrets designs, the movement is of the highest quality, the movement marked 6-10, and then serial number 418134, and also bearing patent plaques for British Patent # 15701 & 18682, and US patent dates of Oct 2, 1900 and March 4, 1902. The enamel dial is perfect. The fancy cast pendulum retains original bright gilding.
