DESCRIPTION: Urania / Kienzle GmbH, Schwenningen, Germany, hanging 400-day banjo clock, year running, front-wound spring driven movement with torsion pendulum in polished brass case with beveled glasses, arabic numeral silvered metal dial, and black steel hands.
CONDITION: the case is in good condition with some very minor dents. Silvered dial with one small scratch and a bit of tarnish. Hands with light oxidation. Both beveled glasses are good. Suspension is intact. The rare two-ball pendulum is attributed to Jahresuhrenfabrik and is one of the only known two-ball pendulum designs. The back movement plate of this clock corresponds to Terwilliger's plate number 1574F, and coincidentally, has the same serial number as the drawing, which is 142086. This clock is shown in Terwilliger's book in the section on "Some Outstanding Pre-World War I 400-Day Clocks"as example number 34. That one is attributed to Jahresuhrenfabrik. Hanging clocks with torsion pendulum movements are uncommon.
