DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co.,, Waltham, Mass., model 1860, 15 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance with gold timing screws in a coin silver, reeded edge, engine turned and engraved hunting case, roman numeral, single sunk white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #380021, c1867.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dent, front; Minor waves and shallow dents, back; Small, deep dent, back; Scratches on outer surface of case; Scratches and shallow dent on cuvette; Engine turning worn smooth; Front cover lift spring a bit weak; Bow with significant wear; Pusher cap absent; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Dial with areas of faint discoloration, most notably at 11:00; Flakes at edge, concealed by bezel. HANDS: Replaced; Oxidation. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Dust guard escutcheon at winding arbor with spots of oxide; Regulator and balance stud with fine specks of oxide; Balance cock screw with spot of oxide; Balance upper endstone and setting replaced; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Not running, good staff, very gummy, needs service.
