Lot#: 43

DESCRIPTION: Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., for Jordan Marsh Company, Boston, rare "Louis XVI" model wall clock, 8 day, time and ship's bells, spring driven movement with lever escapement in a cast bronze case with dark patina, silvered special dial with applied arabic numerals within a 5 inch chapter ring, and pierced hands.
CONDITION: case with dark patination is in good condition. There is a crack to the top portion. It is still connected, but should be treated with care. There is some flaking of the patinated surface on the front side. The silvered dial is in good condition with some minor spots and nicks. There is a bit of wear to the finish on the right size of the bezel. Hands are good. The balance appears to be sound and the clock strikes. The movement ticks and stops so it probably needs to be cleaned. Signed movement is stamped with serial number serial 179450. See Demeter's book, second edition, page 189. According to our research, this clock rarely comes up for sale.
