DESCRIPTION: Joseph Herring, London, a mid 18th century silver pair cased verge pocket watch, key wind and set gilt full plate movement with pierced and engraved balance cock, square baluster pillars, Tompion regulator and decorative steel work in a sterling silver pair case, the inner with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1753 and signed, roman numeral silver champleve dial with arabic five minute markers, blued steel beetle and poker hands, serial #1808, 49mm.
CONDITION: CASE: Inner and outer cases with minor, shallow dents and dings; Fine scratches on outer surface of cases; Minor scratches on crystal; Pendant a bit loose; Catch button worn through; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Scratch at signature, otherwise very good. HANDS: Loss to blue and minor oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on bottom plate; Steel components with loss to blue and scattered specks of oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks)
