AUCTION : 0519

Lot#: 466

DESCRIPTION: Smith & Goodrich, Bristol, Conn., box shelf clock, 30 hour, time and strike, spring driven brass movement with wooden fusees in a mahogany veneered case with painted metal dial and blued steel club hands.
CONDITION: the mahogany veneered case has some small veneer losses that have been repaired. The well done proper style stenciled tablets are probably not original. Very nice inner label. The old painted metal dial has losses around the winding arbor holes and at the bottom and may have come from a different clock. The unsigned movement has had some poor repairs-- most notably a verge that has been installed backwards. Astonishingly, the clock seems to run in this configuration, though we cannot say how well or for how long. The rim of the wood fusee on the left has a missing piece. Minute hand has been repaired.
