DESCRIPTION: Joseph Penlington, Liverpool, England, chiming bracket clock, 8 day, time and strike with chiming on eight bells, triple fusee movement in a provincial style walnut case, rectangular silvered dial with incised red arabic numerals, subsidiary dials for slow / fast, chime / silent, and chime selection, blued steel hands.
CONDITION: There are some nicks to the case. The top center baluster pillar is absent. The carved wooden side frets are broken with pieces missing. Protective finish on silvered dial has yellowed. Dust silks for sides and rear door are lacking, and rear grid is loose. There are 2 mounting screws missing from the movement brackets. The robust fusee movement is dirty, but still trying to tick and chime. Note that the tune selection is for Whittington tune on 8 bells or Westminster tune on 4 bells. Strikes the hours on a large cathedral gong. Original pendulum intact. Chains intact.
