DESCRIPTION: Reid & Auld, Edinburgh, Scotland, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven fusee movement with deadbeat escapement in a figured oak case with cast base molding, carved scrolls above, and carved family crest applied below the dial, signed roman numeral silvered dial, with blackened steel moon hands.
CONDITION: The case retains an old and mostly original finish with peeling losses in need of attention. New red cloth on the back door. Coat of arms on the front features three birds, a chevron, and the head of a griffin. The eight inch engraved brass dial is singed and somewhat dark with tarnish. Very nice original dart / moon hands, brass bezel with side key lock. No door key is included, but the bezel can be opened from the back.
