Original Chinese scene tablet, but has a crack. Original painted dial has scattered loss and is very dirty. Key escutcheon missing. Original hands, finials and movement. Clean label inside. With a few repairs and dial cleaning this will be a nice example.

DESCRIPTION: Eagle Manufacturing Co., Portsoken, England, 8 day, time and strike, spring brass movement Venetian style mantel clock.
CONDITION: Rosewood and rosewood veneered case in the manner of a Venetian-style American cases. It is in nice condition in original finish has a small chip on the bottom right corner. Painted dial on copper is original and has age darkened with some surface stains. The American made movement has some solder repairs on the front plate that will need some attention. Original hands and tablet. Nice label on the back. E.J. Taylor, in his book "American Clocks for the Collector", neatly brackets the possibilities for the site of this PORTSOKEN and identifies a likely entrepreneur who acted as a London agent for U.S. made movements. The agent, William Holloway in Jerome's time, later becomes Nelson J. Holloway & Co., and seems to specialize in fitting U. S. movements into English cases. Portsoken is a ward in the city of London and site of the Holloway offices. An interesting Anglo-American clock.

CONDITION: Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in an old finish. Both scroll ears have been repaired. The feet show repairs and may be replaced along with the skirt as it is thicker than usual. Period wood dial plate has been repainted. Wood movement is period, but not by Samuel Terry who made all the movements for this firm. Original tablet has scattered loss. Original hands and a nice set of original finials. Paper label inside has some staining. Metal dust cover on the back is missing. This firm only existed 1824-1827 and Eli Terry was a silent partner.

CONDITION: Mahogany veneered case in an old and possibly original finish. Case has an expansion crack on the right side and on the top along with a repair. Both sides have some veneer damage in the area of the brass grills. The seat the supports the movement looks to be of a later make. Original painted dial has a couple paint flecks and poor repairs to the chapter ring some of the numbers. The bell may be replaced as one usually finds a polished bell in these clocks.

CONDITION: case with additions, brass with staining, glasses good, dial with serious fracture, hands with oxide, movement good, running, battery holder updated to accommodate four double "A" cells. This clock appears originally to have been configured as model number 5, in the Asprey catalog of Eureka clocks. The case frame and top are added, as are the glasses, and the clock now sits on longer polished brass supports in order to fit the taller case.

DESCRIPTION: F. Kroeber Clock Co., New York, "Regulator No. 47", 8 day, time and strike, spring brass movement wall clock.
CONDITION: Refinished ash case in nice condition. The period hands are mismatched. The dial pan is probably replaced as there is an extra hole in the pan now covered by a newer paper dial. This explains extra holes in the panel that supports the dial. This case has an Ansonia movement which is not unusual as Kroeber was buying movements from several manufacturers. The pendulum may be replaced as this model usually has a wood rod pendulum. A set of modern made finials are included, but not the correct design. A fragment of a label on the back.

CONDITION: tarnish on polished brass surfaces of base which may just be the protective lacquer turning brown. Case retains much of the gilding on the sunk portion of dial, lions, and other ornaments. Enamel cartouches are in good condition Hands have a bit oxidation. Glass is absent from bezel. Rear of case was engraved with what looks like a Social Security Number. Typical French movement is stamped "B.R.".

DESCRIPTION: France, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven pendule de Paris movement mounted in a ornate cast brass rococo style case with polychrome painted porcelain panels, the lowest depicting birds in flight, the central panel showing a courting couple, the dial and topmost urn with images of putti.
CONDITION: The cast brass case with foliate design is dusty, but appears complete with no breaks to the leaves and scrolls. The original gilding is gone except for the deepest spots within the casting. The lower left porcelain panel has a crack running through it. The convex beveled glass and gold hands are very good. The movement ticks and strikes on a cathedral gong, but was not tested long term.

CONDITION: The black slate case has some of the typical foggy white spots and a handful of small chips on the edges and corners. There is one more substantial loss on the right top side. The beveled glass is fine. The porcelain dial has many hairline cracks on the right side. The hands have some oxidation. The unsigned square movement ticks but was not tested long term. This clock is heavy and fragile if shipping is a consideration.

CONDITION: the spelter figure of the young woman has been sprayed with metallic gold paint and her right thumb tip has been repaired. Rear of statue base has a seal stating that it was made in France and a signature that appears read "Belin". The rear of the upper blue sphere is absent. Small round movement with Brocot escapement is stamped "FRANCE". Wood base is not original to the clock. Minute hand is missing.

CONDITION: Walnut and rosewood case in an old finish. The dial is most likely replaced as it has plugged holes. The minute hand is replaced and is too short. Minor damage to the cardboard insert in the original pendulum. The advertisement noted shows an example with a carved crest and two side finials apparently missing on this one.

DESCRIPTION: Germany, cuckoo wall clock, 30 hour, time and gong strike with animated cuckoo bird, weight driven brass movement in a wood case featuring foliage, grapes, and a fox carved in the round below the dial, painted wood cuckoo with articulated beak and wings, the dial with bone hands.
CONDITION: Three leaf tips are broken at the very ends. Nice, deep carvings. Old finish on case has been polished. Bellows with old, but sound leather. Gold painted weights are slightly mismatched and may be replacements. The pendulum stick looks like an old repair. The cuckoo's beak wire is too short, so does not work fully. Bird lift wire is modern and need adjustment. Repair signature in pencil inside back door is from 1895. The unsigned movement ticks, strikes, and makes the cuckoo sounds well.

DESCRIPTION: Gustav Becker, Freiberg, Germany, Vienna style regulator, 8 day, time only, weight driven movement in a walnut case with fluted columns flanking the door glass and turned ornaments, brass clad pendulum, white enamel dial reading in part "Breitinger & Kunz / Philadelphia", subsidiary seconds, and blued steel hands.
CONDITION: There is a split and missing piece of wood at the top of the door. The case has some veneer losses and scratches. The door is difficult to open. The lower left finial is absent. The movement is stamped with the Becker trademark, the Medaille d'Or award, and serial number 752359. Breitinger & Kunz were located at 37 and 39 North Ninth Street in Philadelphia (as noted on the dial) where they sold jewelry, watches, and watch supplies. CONDITION: The case has an old finish with a few bumps and nicks. There is a large split in the back on the lower right side. There are smaller splits in the wood above and below the dial opening. The porcelain dial is very good. Door glass is old and wavy. The back of the movement is stamped with the Becker trademark, the Medaille d'Or award, and movement serial number 416713. The movement ticks and strikes, if a bit sluggishly.

DESCRIPTION: Vincenti & Cie, Paris, France, French empire four-column portico clock, 8 day, time and bell strike, spring-driven pendule de Paris movement in an ebonized wood case with elaborate gilt bronze ornaments, bezel, and pendulum, 3.5 inch silvered guilloche dial with Roman numerals, Breguet style blued steel hands.
CONDITION: The wood case is in very good condition and has been repainted an appropriate black color. Its elegant cast mounts and pendulum retain a bright old patina. The silvered dial is very slightly tarnished. Originally, this clock would have been under a large glass dome. The movement, which is signed on the front plate, has been recently serviced. The clock ticks and strikes.

CONDITION: The case is in very good condition with some old finish remaining. The original painted dial has loss around the center post while the original painted calendar dial has loss at the four mounting holes. Note the circular door on the back side of the case to afford access to the verge on the back side of the movement, a standard feature on many of the Waterbury calendar clocks.

CONDITION: The case is in good condition with some original finish. The case has lost its original top and had a carved walnut replacement probably from a Victorian piece of furniture. See the original top in Tran Duy Ly's "Gilbert Clocks", page 146. The paper dial is lifting from the pan and may be replaced. The hands are original. The door glass is original, but the advertising was added later. The hands are correct.

The octagon base has been repaired using nails from most likely prior weight damage. The paper dial has scattered stains, surface abrasions and has age darkened as well. The dial pan looks to be original, but there are extra holes outside the edge of the pan on the octagon base. Original hands, tablet and pendulum.

(2) Marti & Cie, Paris, mantel clock, 8 day, time and bell strike, spring driven movement with exposed Brocot escapement in an incised black slate case with a stepped and molded base, sunk dial surrounded by a white enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals, blued steel Breguet style hands, c1880.
CONDITION: (1) Bezel has a crack on the right side that has been repaired. Glass will need to be remounted. Old paper dial has darkened. Key and pendulum are of the correct French type. Movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. (2) There is a repaired chip on the upper right side about 1.5 inches long. The case is otherwise complete and in good condition. The gold color within the incised design is faded. Dial and hands are excellent. Escapement has pallet jewels. Bezel with a dark patina. Front and rear glasses are good. DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) (1) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Regulator No. 2" wall clock, 8 day, time only, weight driven movement in an oak case with painted metal dial, spade hands and subsidiary seconds, c1894. (2) Germany, wall hanging box clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven movement in a dark oak case with white enamel dial, and blued steel spade hands.
CONDITION: (1) Oak veneered case has an alligatored finish and many veneer loses. Center of bottom bracket is missing. Original wavy glass on the door and bezel. Painted metal dial is flaking below the Seth Thomas name and has many areas where the white ground has been in-painted. Hands and pendulum appear to be correct. Comes with the correct weight, but the hook has broken off and the base cap is absent. The fundamentals are here for a restoration of the more cosmetic elements. (2) Case is in good condition with a small split below the dial. Enamel dial is fine, as are the hands. Brass pendulum bob has a nice patina. Pendulum rod looks old, but is a much lighter color. Dimensions are for Seth Thomas. Sold "as is".

Bangor, ME.", c1900. (2) Ansonia Clock Co., New York, advertising clock in dark wood case with dial reading "HOT COFFEE", c1900.
CONDITION: (1) clock retains its original finish, dial, hands, and gold leafed advertising tablet. The dial has some losses and discoloration, however is original, with some touch-up to the lettering in advertising section. (2) The finish on the case has turned quite dark obscuring the wood type, which may be rosewood veneer. There is some white wall paint near back edges of the case. The dial is replaced as is the door glass. Lower portion of case will need to be glued. Dimensions are for the finish (1) .

CONDITION: (1) The case has a very nice original finish. Fancy pendulum is very good. Movement is stamped with the Becker logo with the word "Silesia" below and "P42". A very nice example. (2) Case with a good original finish. Small trim piece missing below top right finial. Slight darkening of silvered dial. Elaborate cast pendulum has a bit of polishing residue. Maker's stamp on the rear movement plate was struck poorly, but obviously Becker. Movement serial number 1329417. Dimensions are for number (2) .

CONDITION: (1) Case has good original finish with some worn areas at the corners of the molding. Two small rosettes are missing from the lower portion. Movement is stamped with the Becker logo and the word "Silesia" and "P48". The movement is oily. (2) Case has an old finish. The crest is old, but did not start life with this case. It is missing a finial and a rosette. Celluloid dial has yellowed, but looks good that way. Movement is stamped with the Kienzle winged logo and German patent number (147023): Movement is dirty. Dimensions are for the Kienzle (2) .

(2) Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., 8 day, time only, spring driven movement with a jeweled lever escapement in a brass case with screw-on bezel, signed 6 inch silvered dial with subsidiary seconds, blued steel Breguet style hands, movement serial number 111751, c1917.
CONDITION: (1) Brightly polished brass case is in excellent condition. Silvered dial is bright with only the slightest tarnish. Blued steel hands are good. The serial number on the back of the brass case matches the number stamped on the back plate of the movement. Diminutive round movement is stamped "Boston Clock Co." Movement ticks briskly. (2) Warm, but slightly uneven patina on brass case. Silvered dial is good with a few small dark spots on the right side. A few small spots of the black lettering are missing. Small amount of oxidation on steel hands. Serial number on the back of the case matches the one stamped in the movement. Movement ticks briskly.

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Ceramic and Onyx: (1) Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Raleigh" 3 piece garniture set, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven movement with visible Brocot escapement in a white onyx architectural case fitted with cast gilt ornaments with neoclassical motifs. Two matching ewer-form sidepieces of white onyx, c1895. (2) Japy Freres, Paris, for Duverdrey et Bloquel, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven pendule de Paris movement in a ceramic case with yellow background, polychrome floral images, and gilt highlights, white enamel dial with blued steel hands.
CONDITION: (1) White onyx case is in good condition with virtually no chips to the edges. Gilding has worn off of some of the applied ornaments. Escapement has stone pallet jewels. proper Ansonia pendulum. Movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. (2) The ceramic case dates to the turn of the century and was at some point fitted with a much older French movement with a silk thread suspension. The cause is in good condition with some craquelure to the glaze. Signed Japy movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. Dimensions are for the clock with onyx case. Sold "as is".

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) French Black Mantel: (1) H.P. & Co., Paris, black mantel clock, 8 day, time and bell strike, spring driven pendule de Paris movement with exposed Brocot escapement in a black slate tambour-form case with incised floral patterns and green malachite accents, white enamel dial ring with Roman numerals, and black Roman style steel hands, c1900. (2) France, clock case only, black slate architectural case with stepped, molded base, two sets of three fluted columns flanking the central opening for the dial, pediment with incised designs and low relief frieze depicting Alexander the Great making his triumphal return to Babylon, c1890.
CONDITION: (1) Very few tiny chips to the edges of the slate case. Gold coloring inside of incised lines has faded. Beveled glass, enamel dial, and hands are excellent. The pallet jewels have been replaced with steel. The movement, stamped on the back plate, ticks but does not strike. (2) One chip about half an inch long on the front lower right side of the base. Gold color within the incised design is nearly gone. The gilding has worn off of the fluted columns. Two drilled holes on the front of the base suggest a missing ornament or plaque. The frieze is taken from a well-known historical work. Dimensions are for the architectural case (2): These items are heavy and fragile for shipping.
