H.Ls.Matile, Locle, Switzerland, man's pocket watch with independent dead seconds, 31 jewels, key wind and set, two train gilt bar movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold timing screws, gold endstone settings, and blued hairspring with ear form overcoil, the bottom plate signed "HL.MF" under the dial, in an 18 karat, yellow gold, reeded edge, engine turned, hunting case, the band with slide for stopping the seconds train, and with maker's details engraved on gold cuvette, and Roman numeral, white enamel dial, plum colored steel Breguet style hands, serial #4192, 52mm, 107.3g TW.

CASE: Shallow dents, dimples; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Minor scratches on cuvette; Engine turning worn smooth; Minor gaps between band and covers when closed; Bow worn; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Scratches minor to dial. HANDS: Seconds hand replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Losses to gilding; Gouge in balance cock at screw; Balance endstone setting abraded; Minor oxide and color loss on screws; Very dirty. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). COMPLICATION FUNCTION: Functions properly, needs service. Henry Louis Matile displayed precision watches at the United States Centennial Exhibition in 1876, and frequently entered his timepieces in the chronometer trials at Neuchatel.
