CONDITION: Mahogany veneered case in an old finish with a couple of small veneer repairs on the flat outer band and sides of the case. Original painted dial is very nice for its age with some minor loss at the mounting pins. Both hour and minute hands have been repaired. Nice label inside case. Ht 20.75"

DESCRIPTION: Terry Clock Co., Pittsfield, Mass., "Garland", 8 day, time and strike, spring driven wall regulator, c1885. This clock was later sold by Russell & Jones who took over the Terry Clock Co. when it failed in 1888. A picture of this clock can be found in: "Calendar Clocks" by Tran Duy Ly, pg 225.
CONDITION: Cherry case in as found condition in original and worn in places finish. Having found a similar example sold at auction on the internet this clock originally had a scalloped top piece between the finials and a half round decorative piece on each side of the top chimney block. The right finial's tip is damaged. Other than that the rest of the case appears to be intact. Original paper dial has age darkened. Interesting paper beat scale in the bottom of the case. Hands and pendulum are original. Movement is signed. Sold by Russell & Jones after they took over the Terry Clock Co. in 1888. - movement marked Terry, so probably remaining old stock. Ht 40"

CONDITION: we find this bugler in Ly's illustrations of ornaments and figures, but not this or any other figural clock in a wood case (all others are cast metal), so this is a rare piece. The original finish on the wood and statue have just minor blemishes and wear. Approximately a fourth of the wood on the top urn base has broken away and is absent. The brass dial, beaded bezel, and beveled glass all are good; the pallets are steel. The signed movement needs a pendulum. Ht 18"

This model has an A frame type Waterbury movement. that was not used in the Welch model but a similar looking A frame movement with solid plates was used by Waterbury in some of their regulators.
CONDITION: Refinished ash and ash burl case in nice condition with some slight damage on the right bottom tip and the left edge of the bottom fence. Original black dial is very nice for its age with a ding at about 12 o'clock and another at 2 o'clock. Brass hands look to original with part of the tip on the minute hand missing. Weights appear to be replacements. Ht 51"

Original painted dial with some loss at the mounting pins and wear to the spandrel decorations. Hands are original. Strap brass movement of the type found in the column case made by S.C. Spring before Spring merged with Welch in 1868. It has a very unusual label normally found in the calendar clocks made by Welch, Spring & Co. who used this slightly modified movement in their early wall calendars. Ht 32.5" Welch, Spring and Co must have acquired a large number of these strap movements in the merger, as they appear in clocks for several more years.

CONDITION: the original upper time only, movement has been replaced with a Welch, 8 days, time and strike, movement commonly found in the "Verdi" model. To accommodate this new movement two extra holes have been punched through the original dial and some alterations have been made to the interior of the case. The original stepped bezel has been replaced with a combination of a flat wooden bezel and a painted sheet metal strip that surrounds the backboard. The time and strike, movement is functional and is attached to the Gale calendar mechanism which appears complete. Diameter 28"

There is some damage to the area around the upper door top hinge. The wood weight guides inside the case appear to have mouse damage. Original iron dial has numerous small flaked areas. Remains of the original gilding on the carved paw feet with the right foot having a small piece on the upper right corner missing. Original painted dial is very clean. Original hands. Mirror in the door, though old maybe a replacement. Ht 37"

Original painted dial has age darkened a little with some minor loss at the mounting pins. Hands are original. Bottom tablet is original with background over painted with layer of white paint. Original painted dial with a small loss between two and three o'clock and in a couple places on the outer edge. Hour and minute hands are original. Seconds hand is a replacement. Very nice well preserved wall paper inside the case as well as a very nice label. Original tablet with some minor restoration. Original eagle pendulum. All of the pulleys are replacements. Ht38.75"
