DESCRIPTION:
England, a late 18th century bracket clock, ebonized case with gilt side frets and trim, glazed back door, composite dial with silvered steel faceplate and gilt corner frets supporting a brass chapter ring with roman numerals, square aperture on dial for the calendar, a port for a mock pendulum above the center arbor, and break arch featuring a bronze chapter ring surrounding a silvered base with figures of the moon, four corner dials, blued steel trefoil hands, verge escapement with silk suspension, eight day fusee movement
CONDITION:
case is worn with cracks in the veneer, chips and loss of finish, gilt trim is tarnished with some minor dents, top finial is missing, the front door glass is broken and the back door glass is missing, the door lock needs repair, the gilt frets are tarnished but otherwise in good shape, movement associated with frame is separated from case due to a missing seat board and mounting tabs that cannot grip the frame, corner dials are likely add ons and hardware is missing, fusees have been disconnected and the movement is not ticking or striking; however the escapement will move with light pressure applied
