DESCRIPTION: Gramophone by Hawthorne & Sheible, Philadelphia, and sold by O'Neill-James Co. of Chicago, "Busy Bee" Grand model disc record player with painted tin outside horn.
CONDITION: Busy Bee's oak case may have original finish or an old refinish, but if so the nice original label on side is intact. This machine has an original, curiously shaped reproducer, crank, and a nice tin horn. The horn's paint is so nice it is probably repainted, but nicely done in the proper color. Note this machine has a curious "button" on the turntable which did not allow regular disc records to seat properly, thus making owners buy only Busy Bee records. A scarce models in much better than average condition.

CONDITION: Oak case in nice condition in original finish has some wear to the black painted base. The unit inside is very clean with original decoration. Unit is in playing condition. Pinned wooden cobbs for this instrument are readily available and 15 are included in the lot.

The winding handle may have a wood handle now missing; (2) Grain painted case with incised gold decoration in nice condition. It is the fancier of the two units in this lot. The unit plays, but it sounds squeaky and misses notes. It will need to be restored. It comes with 22 discs that can be played on both units.

The bellows are most likely leaking and will need to be rebuilt.

DESCRIPTION: Antique- Baumgarten & Co., Baltimore, MD, "Baltimore No. 9" miniature printing press with type in wooden case. The Baltimore Printer No. 9 was a small printer, known as a "lever press". Though it could only print a few short lines of type on a 2-1/8" by 3-1/4" piece of paper, these simple printing machines allowed small business to print cards, labels, and tickets without the expense of a professional printer. Individuals also used them to produce their own calling or visiting cards -- the precursor to today's business card.
CONDITION: The press is in overall good condition except for some rust on once bare surfaces and some loss of the black enamel. A new roller for spreading ink will be needed if the press is to be restored to working order. It will also need to be mounted to a table or sturdy wood base. The press comes with several dozens of pieces of type, brass & lead shims, and what may be the original tweezers. The wooden box is homemade, but designed to hold the press. DESCRIPTION: Clock Movements- 3 (Three) wooden works tall clock with dials, 30 hour time and strike weight-driven. One is signed "R. Whiting, Winchester". One unsigned has bone bushings, perhaps Hoadley, and another unsigned with bold chapter numerals may be Ohio. Also included are two sets of tin can weights.
CONDITION: Whiting movement has two newer aluminum cut pinions and many nylon bushings in the plates. The bell has been replaced with a newer gong. The dial is in nice condition except for a bit of loss near the center arbor. The Hoadley-style movements have assorted minor repairs. Sold "as is".

CONDITION: (1) Weight drive movement in good condition. Has a pendulum and pulley. No weight; (2) Chain drive tall clock movement is missing the second wheel in the time train, the strike train fan, the hour wheel and the bell; (3) Brass movement in good condition. Part of the Geneva stop is missing; (4) Weight driven brass movement. The verge does not engage the escape wheel and will need attention. The threaded part of the bell stand is broken off. The pendulum support bridge may be replaced. The 13" x 18.5" dial probably not original to the movement as the bottom pillars have been bent to fit the holes in the front plate. Painted dial has some loss in the 12 o'clock area and at the seconds bit; (5) 11.25" convex dial glasses; (6) Chain drive brass fusee movement in good condition with original hands.
