DESCRIPTION: Massachusetts , 8 day, weight drive banjo or patent time piece, c1870
CONDITION: This mahogany banjo has been restored. Both tablets are modern. Based on the movement, wood pendulum rod and wood baffle in the case it appears that this was probably a Hatch. The dial appears to be original to the case with paint loss on the edge and the mounting pins. This clock has been altered to appear as an earlier Willard-style clock. It now has a dial with spurious signature of Aaron Willard, Jr., modern decorative tablets, brass bezel, side arms and eagle. The movement and pendulum suggest it was originally converted from an Attleboro-style clock with wood bezel and black and gilt glasses.. The hinge area was reparied when the brass bezel was installed. Ht 33 3/4"

DESCRIPTION: Morbier modern reproduction 8 day, time and strike wag-on-wall clock, c1990
CONDITION: This is an interesting interpretation of the venerable French Morbier wall clocks. The ornate thin pressed-brass dial ring is authentic, as is the black-boxed movement behind it, but the bright brass dial, brass weights and gridiron pendulum remind us more of new Howard Miller grandfather clocks. The German Hermle 3-train movement has been cleverly modified into a two-train striker on three gong rods, and it may need service after nearly 20 years.
